Julia Bruce, MD

Family Medicine Physician

Dr. Bruce grew up in a military family and moved around a lot when she was young. She first moved to Virginia in 1979, and has considered it home ever since.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree with Honors from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN in 1990. She is and will always be a huge Fighting Irish fan! Dr. Bruce graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA in 1994 (Go Hoos!), and then went on to complete her family medicine residency at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, GA in 1997. She has been in private practice since that time and has practiced family medicine in northern Virginia for more than 20 years.

Dr. Bruce is married with four children. In her free time (ha'), she taxis her children, reads when she can, watches football, and sings backup vocals with her band, the Rock Doctors (playing in Warrenton!).

Dr. Bruce appreciates the time she is able to spend and the relationships she is able to build with her patients. She likes to get to know her patients, their kids, their parents and even the grandparents. She loves hearing about weddings, graduations, and new family additions! She enjoys seeing patients of all ages, from infants to grandparents and every family member in between — although she does not see pets (yet!). Dr. Bruce was named Washingtonian Top Doctor for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and Northern Virginia Magazine Top Doctor for 2017. Additionally, Dr. Bruce serves as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and we often teach medical students all about family medicine at our office.

Anne Powell, FNP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner

Anne knew at an early age that her future lay in the medical field. While unsure at first, she found that nursing was her home as it provided an opportunity to care for and connect with people. As a military spouse, Anne worked as an RN in Georgia, Florida, and Texas before finally settling in Virginia in 2010. After over 12 years as a Registered Nurse, Anne completed her BSN at the University of Texas at Arlington before attending Georgetown University's Family Nurse Practitioner Program, where she graduated with honors in 2016.

Life in the Powell household is always exciting, and her three children (four if you count her husband) keep her busy when she's not seeing patients. Her oldest son is a second lieutenant in the Army while her daughter is graduating from high school this year and hopes to attend JMU fall 2021 and continue marching band with the JMU Dukes. Her youngest son loves to play basketball and will soon be the only one left in the house.

Anne and her husband are passionate about travel and love seeing the world together. Their recent trips include Hawaii, Alaska, and the Bahamas. They also love all things food related and regularly inject visits to places they see on Food Network just to try them. Lastly, she has a guilty pleasure and LOVES young adult literature (i.e. Percy Jackson, Hunger Games, Divergent), for which her husband gives her tons of grief.

Anne excels at patient care, as it has truly become her passion. She knows she is blessed to have found a home at Skyview Family Medicine and looks forward to meeting her patients and providing great care to her community.
